Welcome

The Dalhousie Women's Centre (DWC) is Halifax's only full time Women's Centre. We are a volunteer driven, student funded, gender inclusive safe space for ALL members of our community.

DWC members meet Stephen Lewis, 2006.

We are a trans-and queer-positive space and are proud to offer a wheelchair accessible space. We offer a resource centre, library, and free meeting space for woman-positive and anti-oppression organizing and gathering. For more information on what we do, see our About Us page.

The Halifax Dyke March*

Posted on: July 22nd, 2010 in Events

Friday, July 23rd · 6:30pm – 8:00, Victoria Park, Spring Garden Road

The Halifax Dyke March is a political demonstration where we take to the streets to promote visibility and create space for queer women and trans people; to protest the oppression of members of our diverse communities; and to celebrate our strength. This march is for women and trans people who identify as dykes, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, two-spirit, asexual, and/or something else.

We welcome our allies’ support. Feel free to join us at our rally in Victoria Park, behind our march, and/or to welcome us at our endpoint on Gottingen St.

* Renamed, according to feelings expressed by some people in the trans community, to more accurately reflect the intentions of the march. Please check our Facebook group for info on a post-march meeting and on how to get involved in planning for next year.

** Pets are welcome, as long as they are on a leash.

Have a happy Pride everyone!!!
